Detailed Information

Sailhant is a three-year-old gelding bred and owned by Godolphin, one of the world’s leading thoroughbred breeding and racing operations, and was developed through their system towards his racing debut.

By outstanding Australian sprinter Bivouac, Sailhant also comes from the highly regarded Mannington family, one of Australia’s proven thoroughbred families.

Sailhant is yet to make his race debut, and we are offering a limited opportunity to purchase shares.

■ Sire: Bivouac – More Than Just Speed

Bivouac was one of Australia’s leading sprinters, winning the Golden Rose (G1), Newmarket Handicap (G1) and Darley Sprint Classic (G1) during an outstanding racing career, and was also recognised as the world’s champion sprinter.

Now standing at Darley’s Kelvinside Stud, Bivouac was crowned Australia’s Champion Second Season Sire for the 2025/26 season.

He has already produced multiple Group 1 winners.

Among his leading progeny is Beiwacht, who won the Silver Slipper Stakes (G2) as a two-year-old before going on to win the Golden Rose (G1, 1400m), All Aged Stakes (G1, 1400m) and, in August 2026, the Memsie Stakes (G1, 1400m), becoming a three-time Group 1 winner.

Of particular interest when assessing Sailhant is Fireball Miss.

Although Bivouac himself was an elite sprinter, Fireball Miss won The Roses (G2, 2000m) as a three-year-old before winning the Queensland Oaks (G1, 2200m) by 1.3 lengths at just her seventh start.

Her performances demonstrate that Bivouac is capable of producing horses with the ability to perform over Classic distances when combined with the right maternal bloodlines.

■ A Maternal Family That Has Produced a Victoria Derby Winner

Sailhant’s dam, Matilija, is by Medaglia d’Oro and was a two-time winner.

His second dam, Romneya, was a Group 2 winner, while his third dam, Mannington, was a Group 3 winner and the foundation of a very strong Australian family.

Importantly, Mannington also produced Benicio, winner of the Victoria Derby (G1, 2500m).

■ Trainer Daiki Chujo’s Comment

“Sailhant has completed his spell and is now in full training with us.

Although Bivouac was an elite sprinter himself, he has already produced Queensland Oaks winner Fireball Miss over 2200m, and I personally believe Bivouac can produce horses capable of developing into quality stayers.

Having ridden Sailhant myself, the way he uses his back and the size of his stride give me the impression that he could improve as he steps up in distance. With Victoria Derby winner Benicio also coming from his maternal family, I would love to aim towards a Derby as one of our major goals with him.

If everything continues to progress well, we are hoping to have him at the trials as early as the end of October.”
